What is not considered a source in google analytics by default?
By default, Google Analytics does not consider the following sources as referral traffic:
- Direct Traffic: When a user types your website URL directly into their browser, they are considered as direct traffic. Even if someone bookmarks your website and accesses it later, they are still considered direct traffic.
- Email: Traffic from emails is also not considered as a referral by default. Google Analytics tracks email campaigns separately and provides data under the "Email" channel.
- Social Media: Traffic from social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. is not considered referral traffic by default. Instead, it is tracked under the "Social" channel.
- Organic search: Traffic from search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. is not considered referral traffic by default. It is tracked under the "Organic Search" channel.
- Paid search: Traffic from paid search campaigns such as AdWords is not considered referral traffic. It is tracked under the "Paid Search" channel.
These sources provide valuable traffic data but are not considered referral sources as they do not link to your website with a referral URL.
